Control Room Shift Technician


Job Purpose: The Control Room Shift Engineer will be reporting to the Control Room Engineering Supervisor while collaborating closely with the Campus Technical Facilities Managers and the Service Desk team daily. The primary objective of this role is to oversee the operation of the Command and Control Room, ensuring the availability, reliability, and efficiency of engineering systems to support continuous 24/7 operations for our customers. Responsibilities: * Operate and monitor engineering services activities through our CAFM and Service Desk systems. * Produce and distribute service performance reports for technical third-party suppliers, adhering to agreed service levels. * Coordinate and collaborate with colleagues and supplier partners to maintain a customer-first approach to facility service delivery. * Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Data Centre engineering systems, including mechanical, electrical, fire, and public health design standards, and ensure comprehensive technical records are kept. * Serve as the primary responder for incidents, coordinating technical responses from maintenance contractors and liaising with the service desk, Technical Operations team, and senior leadership. * Ensure a clear understanding of technical standards and emergency engineering procedures to support task management and delivery, maintaining up-to-date records. * Accurately evaluate technical incidents, report events according to incident management procedures, and maintain comprehensive service level agreement records. * Utilize and maintain the Control Room playbook and associated documentation. * Support the Technical Innovation Hub by using analytical data to drive operational improvements. * Develop and update the wiki to facilitate information sharing across all campuses. * Operate and maintain the CAFM system, ensuring planned, corrective, and reactive tasks are completed in line with customer SLAs and KPIs. * Review planned maintenance records to ensure completion of standards and proper documentation. Experience, Skills & Qualifications: * Hold a recognized Level 3 or higher trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Building Services. * Be a member of a professional engineering institution (CIBSE, IMechE, IET). * Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in critical building engineering services. * Demonstrate extensive experience working with BMS and EMS systems. * Demonstrate extensive experience working with CAFM systems. * Possess attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. * Ability to work well under pressure. * Self-motivated with strong teamwork skills. * Effective communication skills, both technical and organizational. * Confident in knowledge and ability. * Able to work with commercial sensitivity and maintain secure business standards. * Thorough and analytical approach to work.
